Watch Maintenance

Your watch is a sophisticated device made up of many components that are in continuous operation. As the watch is subjected to daily stresses such as friction, vibrations, temperature fluctuations, bumps and knocks, wear and tear is the unavoidable result. Maintenance will allow the repair and correct adjustments to be restored by periodically renewing the lubricant and exchanging the worn parts, ensuring your watch will perform to factory standards.

The watch case protecting the movement and dial is equipped with gaskets to ensure water-resistance. Environmental elements such as perfumes, perspiration, soaps and detergents will negatively affect these gaskets progressively deteriorating their properties and should at times be replaced.

Maintenance Description:
Quartz Watch Battery Service:

Battery replacement. Checking of all working parameters of the movement and the watch functions. Cleaning of case and metal bracelet. Light polishing where possible. Water-resistance control.

Complete Service:
The frequency of this operation is about 3 to 4 years for Mechanical Timepieces and 4 to 6 years for Quartz Timepieces, however it can be influenced by the way the watch is used.
Complete dismantling of the movement, cleaning, replacement of worn components, re-assembly and lubrication. Adjustment of functions and daily rate. Exchange of battery on quartz watches. Refurbishing of case and metal bracelet, where possible. Water resistance control.

Water-Resistance:
Watches are water-resistant at various levels, according to the specific model. However, the effectiveness of this feature will progressively downgrade as a result of exposure to commonplace elements of everyday life, such as perspiration, chlorinated or salty water, perfumes, cosmetics and ultra-violet light. To ensure your watch retains optimum resistance to the elements, it is recommended to have seals and gaskets replaced on an annual basis. The water resistance rating, expressed in bars or meters, does not correspond to an absolute depth of immersion. The crown and push pieces must not under any circumstances be operated under water or when the watch is wet.

The table below indicates the conditions in which your watch may reasonably be used, according to its degree of water resistance.
